Friends Home West is not really a nursing home but is instead is an assisted
living type facility. In other words, it is more of a retirement community.
It has an indoor swimming pool, a garden and a lake. This retirement community
has almost two hundred apartments for people who can mostly take care
of themselves. It has forty rooms that are considered assisted living.
This should mean some help with medications and some supervision. According
to Medicare.gov they also have nine residents in skilled facility beds.
This would be the "true" nursing home part. Based on the Friends
Home website, they have forty beds in their "Health Care Center".
I would assume that means skilled beds. If I had to guess, most skilled
care patients would be moved to the
Friends Home at Guilford facility. Their overall rating is 4 stars above average. Their health
inspections only had 3 deficiencies and the average in North Carolina is 4.
